I have always wanted to try waxing, but if we’re being honest, I was terrified! Not to mention, considering I am allergic to everything, I was apprehensive I would react to the wax. However, after listening to the Moms in the Hub episode with Tosha, the owner of European Wax Center, I decided I would try it!
Early appointments are encouraged to ensure you get your desired time and wax specialist, but if you are in a pinch, they also take walk-ins! I prepped, using the tips from the podcast, exfoliating the area, avoiding caffeine, and hydrating! When I walked in, I don’t think I could’ve been any more nervous. However, I was immediately put at ease by the intimacy and friendliness of the employees! After the girls greeted me and checked me in, I explained how anxious I was. I expected the typical “it’s not as bad as you think” or “you have nothing to worry about.” Still, I was impressed when they all explained that they were nervous their first time too, and assured me that they would walk me through everything and take as much time as I needed to start and answer any questions I had!
Averi, my waxer, was nothing short of absolutely amazing. Not only was she extremely patient with me, but she honestly did walk me through every step and completely calmed my nerves. I expressed my worry about being allergic or having a reaction, and she assured me that while it occasionally happens, It was doubtful. European Wax Center uses a comfort wax that is unique to them, and it is specially formulated to be less painful and more gentle. Avery was highly professional, made sure that I was comfortable, and had no more questions before she walked me through the start of the process.
I want to preface this by saying that I have absolutely zero pain tolerance, another reason I was apprehensive about getting such a sensitive area waxed. So, after Averi spread the first layer of wax, which was the perfect temperature and pretty relaxing, she showed me a breathing technique and began. After the first strip, I thought she was doing a practice round to prep me because the pain was so minimal and extremely quick. Averi was very efficient and finished the appointment in about 10 minutes.
When we were finished, I had to laugh at myself after working myself up so much the night before! European Wax Center made it an excellent experience for me, especially as a first-timer! I walked out without pain and picked up the after-care serum (the most critical part). I could schedule future appointments and even discovered that they offer custom memberships, depending on your specific waxing goals!
