Five Friday Favorites: The Hair Edition

1

Frizzy, wavy, unmanageable… those are just a few words to describe my hair. WHO’S WITH ME?! I always see people complain about their hair being straight as an arrow or so curly it’s unruly… And I am right smack dab in the middle with the frizz and yucky waves. It has taken me 34 years to find the perfect products for this mane the good Lord blessed me with, and today I am here to share my findings with you!

Biolage Matrix Smooth Proof Shampoo & Conditioner

I am IN LOVE with this shampoo/conditioner combo! It leaves my hair smelling and feeling like I just left the salon. It keeps my frizz to a minimum, gives some body, and leaves my hair so soft and shiny with some other products I will mention below! It is pricey; however, I have found that Drug Emporium is about $5 cheaper than anywhere else I’ve seen it. A little goes a long way, and with me only washing my hair twice a week (if you’re a daily washer, don’t come at me! My hair falls out if I wash more than twice a week!) I only have to buy shampoo/conditioner once every 6-ish months. 110% worth the money and I 10/10 recommend it.

Biosilk Silk Therapy 17 Miracle Leave-In Conditioner

My sister introduced me to this product, and I genuinely don’t know how I went almost 34 years without it in my life. When I get out of the shower, the first thing I do is towel dry my hair and spray this in. I was cursed with frizzy waves… *I mean blessed… so this helps me get the comb through it without yanking chunks of tangles right out of my scalp. Another plus side? It smells phenomenal! I bought my first bottle in March of 2021 and have only replaced it once. Like the shampoo/conditioner, a little bit goes a long way! I also purchase this at Drug Emporium, but I have not priced it out anywhere else to compare.

CHI 44 Iron Guard Heat Protectant Spray

I dried and straightened my hair with no protection for years, and IT SHOWED. After straightening, it would still frizz terribly because it was so damaged. When I changed my hair care routine in early 2021, I quit drying it and started using this before straightening. The difference it has made is legitimately NIGHT AND DAY.

After I wash, I towel dry and spray my Biosilk leave-in conditioner, and then spray my CHI heat protectant. Then I air dry before straightening. Yes, this has added time to my routine, but to have healthy, anti-frizzy hair was worth it. I make my plans accordingly! Usually, I’ll shower at night and let my hair dry overnight so that I can style it in the morning. I purchase my CHI heat protectant on Amazon, as it is the cheapest that I have found… although, truthfully, I haven’t priced it out at many different places, HA!

L’ange 1″ Rose Blush Straightener

I would use the cheapest straightener I could find at Walmart and replace them constantly for the longest time. I finally broke down and spent some money on my Lange, and I will NEVER go back. The heat adjustment is perfect for my frizzy hair, and my hair stays straight once I am done! My hair doesn’t get stuck in it as it did in the cheapos I used. I bit the bullet and bought mine off of a L’ange ad I saw on Facebook when it was on sale! If you watch, you can almost always find one on sale to save you some $$$.

Batiste Dry Shampoo

Batiste is, hands down, the BEST dry shampoo on the market… In my opinion, of course. And you can get it for every hair color! I have dark brown hair, so I use the Divine Dark color so that it doesn’t look like I sprinkled baby powder on my scalp. When you read above that I only wash two times a week, if you asked, “HOWWW does she get by with that?!” this product right here is how. I spray my roots, give my hair a quick brush, and go on about my day. I’ve tried many different dry shampoos, and this one is the only one that has ever truly worked for me. And… it’s SO AFFORDABLE! I purchased this one at Wal-Mart, but have never price compared it elsewhere.

This concludes my Friday Favorites: Hair Edition. If you have a mess atop your head like me, I hope some of these products could help you out as they have me! My whole life, I have hated my hair. With the help of these five products, I have learned to love and be thankful for what God has given me to work with. Do you have a hair product you swear by?! Tell us about it below!!

I hope you all have a happy Friday! May your weekend be restful and productive, and I wish many great hair days ahead for you!

Hi! My name is Jaime and I have many titles. I am the wife to my best friend, mom of 3 sweet kids, a sister, an aunt, a friend, Sister in Christ, and a licensed Texas Realtor. I am honored to also be a Lubbock Moms Contributor. I was born and raised in Levelland, TX. I had a bit of a gypsy soul for a few years, but when it came time to start my family I came back home. It has been amazing having family close during this season of our lives. I've lived a lot of life in my 34 years and have so much that I cannot wait to share with the Lubbock Mom community. I am an open book, almost to a fault, and I usually don't know when to shut my mouth. Give me some good Mexican food and a bottle of wine and we will most certainly become best friends. My favorite part about living in the Lubbock area is the diversity. I have my own beliefs as views (as we all do), but I absolutely love connecting with people of all walks of life. I never meet a stranger and I can't wait to connect with you!
