Free School Meals in Lubbock and Surrounding Communities

We have compiled information that is available regarding free school meals for children in the Lubbock area and surrounding communities. School districts are listed in alphabetical order and community resources are listed at the bottom. If we missed one, please let us know and we will add it to the post!

Abernathy ISD

Foodservice will continue Monday, March 23, and free breakfast and lunch will be available for all children 18 and under. Parents will be able to pick up meals curbside in front of the elementary main entrance. For more information, please click here.

Anton ISD

Beginning Monday, March 30, 2020, Anton ISD will provide curb-side meal service. Any child 18 or under will be eligible to receive a meal. Meal service will be 9:00am to 12:00pm Monday-Friday. Each meal will contain breakfast AND lunch. Parents and children will drive up or walk up to west-side double doors of the cafeteria to receive the
meals. Children must be present to receive a meal. Parents and children must remain on cars or by the curb. No one will be allowed inside the building. If you are planning on taking advantage of the meal service, Anton ISD is asking that you contact the school at 997-5221 or 997-5211 with the number of meals you will need so that the cafeteria can be adequately prepared to serve the community.For updates, please click here.

Frenship ISD

Starting Monday, March 23rd, Frenship ISD will offer curbside meal pickup at six locations. In order to serve our entire community, any child age 18 or younger, regardless if they are a Frenship student, can pick up breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday. The free grab-and-go meals will be available from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until further notice. Each child will be provided two meals at the time of pickup each day. Idalou ISD

Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, meals will be available for pickup from 11:30am to 1:00pm, Monday through Friday. Curb side pick-up is at the elementary campus, please drive into the bus lane and stop at the side of the front door. If you live in the neighborhood, walk-ups are allowed. All children ages 1-18 will be given a meal. If you need home delivery, please call 806.892.1900 for arrangements. Levelland ISD

Levelland ISD will be providing breakfast and lunch sacks starting Monday, March 23rd for any child that is 18 years or younger. These will be distributed out of the Intermediate School cafeteria on the west side from 7:15 am to 10:00 am. Please enter the circle drive and pull up to door number 16 and remain in the car, food will be brought out to you. The child or children receiving the sacks must be present – regulations prevent us from giving this out to anyone else other than the child. Walk-ups are also welcome. They will also be providing breakfast and lunch sacks for Saturdays and Sundays. These will also be given out on Friday between 7:15 and 10:00 am. For updates, please click here.

Littlefield ISD

Littlefield ISD will provide food service (breakfast and lunch) to all students during this temporary mandated school closure.  At this time, we anticipate returning to school on Monday, April 6, 2020.   However, should this temporary closure be extended – Littlefield ISD will continue to provide food service to students for as long as necessary. All students, K-12, are eligible for meals even if they attend another school district. Food will be distributed in two ways: 1) curbside grab-and-go at all campuses for students not on the bus route and 2) home delivery for all students on bus routes. Lubbock ISD

Beginning Monday, March 23, curbside pickup will be available at 16 Lubbock ISD campuses Monday through Friday, from 12-1:30pm. Please note that children must be present to pick up meals, school buildings will not be open, only grab-and-go options will be available, lunch and the next day’s breakfast will be distributed each day, and meals will be handled promptly to limit gathering and practice social distancing. School bus meal distribution will also be on Monday, March 23, with 20 buses delivering food across the city of Lubbock. Routes will begin at 12pm and run until 1:30pm in order of their regular stops. Lubbock Cooper ISD

Beginning Wednesday, March 25, the LCISD Child Nutrition Department will be offering student meals via curbside pick-up at each LCISD campus (New Hope Academy students may pick up from East Elementary or Laura Bush Middle School). Food will be provided for students Monday-Saturday with pick-up available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Students will be able to pick up four meals at a time; breakfast and lunch for two days. New Deal ISD

New Home ISD

New Home ISD is dedicated during this difficult time to continue serving our students and community. If you qualify for free or reduced meals and would like to continue to receive meals please contact Brady Webb at bwebb@esc17.net or call 806-924-7543 ext 208. Roosevelt ISD

Roosevelt ISD will be providing breakfast and lunch to all children under the age of 18 in our community. District staff will be delivering these meals via our normal bus routes beginning March 23, 2020. Two days’ worth of meals on Mondays, 3 days worth of meals on Wednesdays. Food deliveries will be made on Monday and Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm and families will come to the bus/vehicle to pick up their meals. Staff will also be available to provide a grab and go breakfast and lunch for all children under the age of 18 at the Roosevelt ISD central office from Monday- Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Buses will be following their normal routes and have a 2 hour delivery window. We ask that you make yourselves available within that time frame if you would like to receive meals. Ropes ISD

Starting Monday, March 30 we will begin handing out a week’s worth of food to those that requested meals. We will have the pick-up times from 11 am -1 pm and also from 5 pm to 7 pm, to help accommodate families that cannot be there due to work. Once again we will have a drive-through pick up line by the old gym/cafeteria door. Shallowater ISD

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for students in two ways. A pull-up location will be on the north side of the high school each morning for breakfast (7:30-8:30) and mid-day for lunch (11:00-1:00). Four buses will also run to the different bus stops to deliver breakfast and lunches to those who are there.  These buses will leave from the high school each morning at 7:45 to deliver breakfast and leave from high school each day at 11:15 to deliver lunches. Slaton ISD

Slaton ISD will start providing sacked breakfasts and lunches for all students on Tuesday, March 24th. That will be done in a number of ways, both in front of specified cafeterias and at bus stops, and in some cases, home delivery. Smyer ISD

Beginning Tuesday, March 24th, Smyer ISD will provide a nutritional food sack for all our students containing breakfast and lunch items. The pick-up time will be from 10:45-12:45 each school day. Please drive down the bus lane, stopping in front of the awning. School personnel will be watching and will bring the sack of food to your car. If you walk up, we will meet you at the end of the awning to deliver the sack. The students receiving the sacks of food must be present for the food to be delivered. Receiving these meals will apply to any person ages 1 to 18. They do not have to be enrolled in school. For updates, please click here.

Community Resources

Jimmy John’s 

Your Lubbock Jimmy John’s will be offering all kids a choice of a #1, #4 or #6 Little John sandwich at no cost, M-F from 11am-1:30pm. Promotion may be discontinued at any time. Be sure to mention this ad when ordering. Only one Little John per child, the child must be present at the time of ordering. Not valid on delivery, pick up only. Thank you for your support during this difficult time, we will get through it together!

One Guy From Italy

Starting on Monday, March 23rd and Wednesday the 25th from 2 to 5 pm we will be giving away spaghetti to those in need. Carry out only. We ask that if you can afford to buy food to buy it and leave the free food for those in need. 50th St. ONLY!

South Plains Food2Kids

South Plains Food2Kids’ mission is to put an end to weekend hunger in the South Plains. With the help of many volunteers and partnering with other organizations, they send nutritious shelf-stable bags of food home each Friday so children are able to come to school ready to learn on Monday morning. Currently, they provide 2,000 bags per week for Lubbock ISD and will continue this commitment by taking those bags to the food pickup sites listed above for Lubbock ISD. They are raising money for additional support to be able to feed children beyond their current budget. If you would like to donate, they are asking for monetary donations in the form of a check or credit card. They are an official 501(c)3 so all donations are tax-deductible.
